Printing error in A.A. guide

Automobile Association members who have received their copy of the latest A.A. Hotel and Motel Guide may find whole sections missing, because of a printing error.

Those who do may telephone the A.A. for a replacement, said the touring manager of A.A. Canterbury, Mr Ces Collings. He said, however, that it was a minor problem, and a “non-event.” Minor problems were inevitable in a print run of 225,000.

One member telephoned “The Press” to complain that her copy had a gap from page 64 to page 209, and page 97

followed page 240. She said that she had telephoned the A.A. to be told that she was the sixteenth person to complain. Mr Collings, however, said that there had been only about six complaints. He believed the caller would have been told not that she was the sixteenth to complain but that she was one of 16 likely to have a faulty book. Mr Collings said that the binding system worked on batches of 16, so that if one book was faulty, 16 would be. He believed the issue need not have been made public, as the guides were not available to the public but issued free to members.
