New yachting president
The Canterbury Yachting Association has elected its first woman president. She. is Mrs Alison Elder, formerly the association’s secretary. Mrs Elder's first big role in. yachting was as racing secretary of the province’s largest
club, Canterbury, a job she held for 11 years. Mrs Elder plans to introduce more young children to the "fun side” of yachting and to strengthen the association’s links with secondary schools.
