Sir, —The south-east corner of Armagh and Colombo Streets is for sale (April 18) and our problems all resolved. Tourist Towers will buy the site. There the tower will stand, earthquakeproof, in correct axial relationship and leaving Victoria Square unpillaged. No need to realign and freehold unused road space in Victoria Square and sell or lease it dirt cheap to a private developer. No need to assess unpredictability of tourism nor

compare Sydney’s 3,000,000 population with ours of 300,000 when considering patronage. Whether the view is worth $20,000,000 or the tower just an expensive gimmick becomes irrelevant. When towers become unfashionable the over-burdened ratepayer will not have to demolish it nor the council be charged with gullibility. Add has not threatened terrorism closed the London Post Office tower, lessening overseas competition? Sydney’s harbour andi Opera House are nothing to our estuary and fine expanse of corrugated iron roofing. Who could resist sunrise on sewage ponds while eating pie in the sky?
