Summer Times
Sir, —In the debate on using a very small part of the city parking revenues to enable Sum-
mer Times to continue, two major points have been overlooked. First, the democratically elected City Council adopted an expedient measure to save the Summer Times programme at the last minute. There was nothing sinister or anti-motorist in this measure which seems to me to have been no more than a wizard wheeze. Second, the entertainments were attended and enjoyed by thousands of people many of whom were motorists, members of the A.A., city ratepayers, or all three. They got better value from Summer Times than they can find in parking meters. The A.A. is far too quick to make pronouncements on its members’ behalf, but very reticent to ever Seek their views. A.A.’s usual negative approach contrasts badly with the' City Council’s enlightened efforts to continue a very worthwhile programme. — Yours, etc., JOHN ROBB!
