Quilting symposium

Sir,—l have just returned from a five-day visit to your city impressed by my experiences. I write, however, not to extol the city’s virtues — these are surely well enough known — but in sincere appreciation of the success achieved by a relatively small group of Christchurch women who organised the national quilting symposium. I was fortunate enough to accompany my wife, an ardent quilter, tothis symposium. The occasion was one involving a multiplicity off courses, workshops and lectures embracing all aspects of the arts — I use the term deliberately — of patchwork and quilting. As observer rather than participant, I had the opportunity to study not only the remarkable demonstrations of skills and artistry by well over 300 “students” and tutors but to applaud the efficiency and dedicated application of those Christchurch v/omen responsible for organising and running the symposium. 4 Yours, etc.,
