Country rugby coach
Tom McLay will select and coach the Canterbury Country rugby team this year.’ He replaces , Geoff Henderson, who has moved to the’ North Island.
Mr McLay has had a long association ■ with •< country rugby, having been the North Canterubry selector-coach for a total of 13 years, between 1971 and 1986.
He has had one previous term with Canterbury Coun-
try. It was in 1980 and he stood aside* the following year when Alex'Wyllie made himself available. . ‘
Mr McLay has co-opted Graham Benney as his coaching partner. Mr Benney has assisted Mr McLay with North Canterbury for the last four years.
Canterbury Country has seven matches this year, including a two-match southern tour in June.
