Biggest spenders
PA Wellington The Japanese spend more money on a daily basis than any other visitors to New Zealand, according to the latest figures from the Tourist and Publicity Department. The Japanese spend an average of $lB7 a day while in New Zealand, compared with Americans at $BB, and Australians, $53. The average total spending by overseas visitors changes the picture slightly, the Americans spending $1219, Japanese $ll5l, Canadians $llO2, British $1033, and Australians $986.
