Attempt to improve troublespot
Improvements are being made by the Ministry of Works and Development to a traffic troublespot, the intersection of the Main West Road, left, and the Old West Coast Road, at YaldhursL The main road is being realigned and the bend reduced to a gentle curve. The Old West Coast Road will be equipped with a turning bay and will enter the main road at a much greater angle. The task has been on the Ministry’s list of priorities for some time,
but work has been delayed until now because of negotiations for land purchases. The Christchurch Gun Club has lost part of its pine hedge and frontage, and the new turning bay on the Old West Coast Road has eaten into a Paparua County Council reserve.
