Sale for choir’s tour
A garage sale will be held outside Christchurch Cathedral on Saturday morning to raise funds for an Australian tour by the Cathedral Choir. The 48-member choir will tour New South Wales from May 14 to 22, giving recitals in Sydney, Goulburn and Canberra. It will be the first time the century-old choir has toured outside New Zealand. ney Cathedral Choir which it billeted two years ago.
After nine months of fund-raising $24,000 of the $30,000 target had been raised, said the organiser, Mrs Ann Childs.
The garage sale will start at 10 a.m., rain or shine, and on March 19 the choir will give a recital of its Australian programme in the Cathedral at 7.45 p.m.
