Rape inquiry hindered
Christchurch detectives investigating an attack on a woman, aged 19, in North Hagley Park early on Friday morning have received little information from the public. Detective Senior-Ser-geant Colin Dalzell said the lack of information had hindered inquiries. He urged anyone who saw suspicious activity in the park on Thursday evening to get in touch with the Christchurch C. 1.8. The woman was forced to a wooded area near the No. 9 green of the Hagley golf course and raped just after midnight on Thursday. She was shaken but not seriously hurt physically. The woman was walking home to Riccarton after an evening with friends at a central Christchurch coffee lounge. She was attacked from behind near the international circus tent on the eastern side of North Hagley Park. The attacker is described as European, aged in his 20s, of medium build, and about 173 cm (sft Bin) tall.
