Bonecrusher 100 per cent’

PA Wellington Bonecrusher has come through X-ray examina,'tions at the Werribee clinic in Melbourne with a : clean bill of health. The four-year-old’s regular rider, Gary Stewart, who has stayed with the horse in quarantine since its aborted Japan Cup mission, rang trainer, Frank Ritchie, last evening with the good news. “There’s no damage at all to his lungs,” a relieved Ritchie said. “He’s 100 per cent and there are no lasting effects. “The vets assured us in Japan that there would be no lasting effects because of the speed of his recov-

ery and this confirms it,” said Ritchie.

Ritchie said the X-rays were conducted with the very latest technology and were completed quickly. The X-rays were the final examinations for the Cox Plate winner after his upper respiratory system had been thoroughly checked a fortnight ago. No permanent damage had been sustained there either.

Bonecrusher will now be floated back to Sydney, overnight, later in the week to avoid the heat of the day. He will then be flown back to New Zealand on the same flight as Waverley Star.
