Police describe punk rockers
Christchurch detectives are still trying to trace punk rockers involved in a stabbing attack on a man in the Papanui Tavern car-park last Friday evening. Bruce Charles Mayell was stabbed in the back and suffered a cut to an arm in the attack. He was discharged from Princess Margaret Hospital on Monday. The punk rockers had apparently attended a party nearby before going to the hotel car-park. They were involved in an incident in the bottle store before the attack.
Mr Mayell was stabbed about 11.20 p.m. His attackers are believed to have left in an early-
model Singer Gazelle, which is similar to a Humber 80. It had flared rear guards. The police seek information about the attack and have given descriptions of three of the punk rockers. Two are European women. One wore leo-pard-skin leotards, a mini skirt, and had white braces hanging down the back. The other woman wore dark clothing and had dark hair with a purple or pink streak.
The third was a European man, aged about 25, of medium build, with close-cropped hair, and tattoos on the scalp, neck, and throat.
