Casino ship auction
PA Auckland The Gulf Explorer, formerly the gaming ship Casino Royale, will be sold by auction after tenders for the vessel fell through. A spokesman for Broadbank Corporation, the first mortgagee on the ship, said the December 18 sale became necessary when
the highest tenderer failed to meet the conditions. The Casino Royale was arrested at Tauranga in early August by creditors claiming $1.5 million. Morgan Shipping, the company running the vessel, was ordered to wind up by the High Court at Auckland several weeks later.
