Town side includes four quicks
Rod Latham will captain a Town team containing few surprises on the annual Show week-end two-day cricket fixture against Country, at Timaru starting next Saturday.
One point of interest, however, is the selection of four fast bowlers — Stu Roberts, Andrew Hintz, Bill Lawrence hnd the left-armer, Chris Flanagan. To supplement that quartet is the off-spin of Vaughan Brown, coupled with the medium-pace of Paul McEwan and Latham.
The two leading candidates for the wicket-keeping position in the Shell series this summer, Barry Ward and Paul Rutledge, will have the opportunity to lock horns in Timaru. Rutledge will keep for Town, while Ward is in the Country XL The team is: Anup Nathu, Justin Boyle, Paul McEwan, David Boyle, Rod Latham, Vaughan Brown, Chris Flanagan, Bill Lawrence, Paul Rutledge, Stu Roberts, Andrew Hintz. The twelfth man will be Blair Hartland.
