Labour policies
Sir, —I read with interest (October 16) that Labour had selected a former foundation member of the New Zealand Party for its candidate for Ashburton in the 1987 election. That is not very surprising as the fourth Labour Government’s economic policiies are very similar to the New Zealand Party’s manifesto in the 1984 election. This present Government has abandoned Labour’s principles and capitulated to the very worst aspects of capitalism. The fourth
Labour Government has allowed the sharemarket to run berserk without placing any restrictions on it. The destiny of New Zealand is now in the hands of speculators. — Yours, etc.,
