Sulphur spill at Lyttelton
Norwich Quay, Lyttelton, was blocked for a short time yesterday morning while firemen washed away a sulphur spillage. The sulphur had spilled out the tailgate of a truck unloading from the Star Pioneer at the No. 2 wharf, just after 9.30 a.m. A Lyttelton Harbour Board spokesman said the truck had hit a bump in the road outside the British Hotel, causing the tailgate to slip open. Because of the high fire risk, the Fire Service was called.
