NZPA correspondent London Bad weather and unfavourable tides have forced the Otago swimmer, Philip Rush, to abandon an attempt on a three-way crossing of the English Channel, said his .f’ . .
manager, Mr Tony Keenan. They waited a month for conditions which would have given Rush a chance of beating the American John Erikson’s record of 38hr 27min for the triple journey. Now, with spring tides due next week, they have run out of time and will leave for home.
