Cycle tour to Flack
A strong finish in the final stage by Marcus Flack, of the Mairehau Club, produced just rewards when he won the
116 km Campagnola novice cycle tour held at Sefton yesterday. Flack, who was 21s down by time penalties incurred during the race, broke away from the field in the last 800 m of the final stage to win the over-all event from a fellow Cantabrian, Clayton Gyde, of Hornby by 3s. In the King of the Mountain series, Craig Saunders, of Nelson, showed his superiority to win all the climbs and finish with 27 points from Andrew Barlow, of Invercargill, with 13 points.
