Situations Vacant Situations Vacant CIVIL ENGINEERING ANN ARCHITECTURAL APPOINTMENTS — PAPUA NEW GUINEA The Engineering Division of the Western Highlands provincial Government, Papua New Guinea, wishes to appoint three senior personnel to its staff to assist in the implementation of a wide range of civil engineering and building projects within this rapidly developing province. The development works include roads, bridges, water supplies, sewerage schemes, and building works. Appliestions are sought lor: Position ENI — Provincial Engineer Must have at least 15 years experience (10 years minimum, must have been in a position of responsibility) in a wide range of engineering and building works with emphasis on roads and bridges. Must have proven ability in planning, organisation and financial management of a medium to large civil engineering organisation. A University Degree in civil Engineering is desirable but a Technician’s Certificate of a recognised standard would be acceptable. The successful applicant would be responsible for the management of the Engineering Division including financial control, planning, implementation of capital and maintenance works, staffing and advising on budgets and policy. Position EN6 — Senior Works Supervisor (Civil) Must have a least 15 years experience in civil engineering construction and maintenance works with emphasis oh roads and bridges. 8 years minimum, must have been in a position of responsibility. Must have proven ability in the supervision of manpower and equipment, purchasing of materials and control over expenditure of funds. A recognised Supervisor’s or Technician’s Certificate in Civil Engineering is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant would be responsible for the planning, implementation, control and co-ordination of supervisory staff, plant, labour, etc employed on civil engineering capital and maintenance works, including staff training. Position EN7 • - Architectural Works CoOrdinator Must have a minimum Oi 12 years experience in building construction or architectural design of which 5 years has been in a position of responsibility. Must have proven ability in management of architectural or building organisations engaged in design, documentation, estimating and construction, including supervision of contracts and control over expenditure of funds. A minimum qualification of a recognised Technician’s Certificate in Building Construction, Architecture or Civil Engineering is required. The successful applicant would be responsible for the supervision of the Architectural Section and drafting office of the Engineering Division and would plan, implement and financially control all architectural and building works. Duties would include liaison with National Government Departments, representation on the Provincial Building Board and staff training.
