THE WELLINGTON REGIONAL COUNCIL DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL Following a recent internal promotion within the Council, a vacancy has arisen for this senior position in the Parks and Recreation Department. Excellent opportunities are available to the successful applicant, who will be expected to make a significant contribution to the development of Parks and Recreation services offered by the Council. The Deputy Director will be responsible to the Director of Parks and Recreation for the operation of the Department and to deputise for the Director in his absence. The Council administers almost 3000 hectares of parkland on which there is a wide range of recreational facilities including a 26 hectare Botanic Gardens; a unique and world renowned open air native plant museum; zoological gardens housing over 600 animals; and five swimming pools with a new Aquatic Centre under construction. A full range of recreation programmes are also run, including the Council’s very successful ‘Summer City.’ The Council is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person who possesses a wide range of management skills.
