Bay swamps Coast
PA Greymouth Hawke’s Bay swamped West Coast 52-12, in a representative rugby match at Rugby Park, Greymouth yesterday. Hawke’s Bay scored eight tries, six in the second half, with its first five-eighths, Peter O’Shaugnessy, picking up 24 points. West Coast competed well in the first half but
lacked the pace and skill to match the Hawke’s Bay backs. Scorers.— Hawke’s Bay 52: Steve Ngamaru (2), Derek Brooks, Hallam Cupa, Julian Ormond, Darryl Tamati, Peter O’Shaugnessy, Gary Gregory tries; O’Shaugnessy 7 conversions and 2 penalties. West Coast 12: Mark Cullen a try; Bob Bird a conversion and penalty, Tony O’Regan a dropped goal.
