Waikato too powerful
PA Ashburton Waikato had too much power up front for MidCanterbury in a second division rugby match played in atrocious conditions at Ashburton yesterday. After leading 18-4 at half-time, Waikato cleared out for a thoroughly convincing 3510 win.
Outstanding for the visitors was the full-back, Andrew Strawbridge, who scored 15 points. Scorers. — Waikato 35: Paddy d’Abo (2), John Mitchell, Chris Ellis, Andrew Strawbridge, Richard Loe tries; Strawbridge 4 conversions and penalty. Mid-Canterbury 10: Murray Young 2 tries; Jock Fulton a conversion.
