Counties fight back
PA Auckland Counties fought their way back from an 8-19 half-time deficit to defeat Taranaki, 26-19, in a national championship rugby match at Pukekohe yesterday. In the first half the Taranaki forwards had been dominant, while the Counties backs were sadly
lacking in confidence, but Counties roared into life after the break. Scorers—Counties 26: W. McLean, A. Talaimanu, A. Dawson, tries; R. Fry 3 penalties, dropped goal, and conversion. Taranaki 19: C. McAlister P. Hall, tries; K. Crowley 3 penalties and conversion.
