These baits will be laid by hand for the destruction of possums on new and existing plantations in State Forest and Scenic Reserve In the following areas: State Forest 42 lanthe, Plantation Road, Complex Road, Te Raho Road, Acacia Drive, Gauge Road, Top Pit Road, Fletcher Road, Whakalkal Road: Legal description Pt R 1631, R 2035, Block XIV and XV Waitaha Survey District plus Pt R 1943, Block H Mt Bonai: Survey District. Lake lanthe Scenic Reserve adjacent to the above areas and on the northern side of Lake lanthe, legal ’ description, Pt R 1191, Block XIV and XV Waitaha Survey District. State Forest 41 Wanganui, Pye Road, Wye Road, Flax Road, Pump Road, Ridge Road, Rata Road, Bell Creek Road, Moa Road and Strip Road; Legal description Pt R 1633, 4909, Block XVI Mt One One Survey District Pt R 1679, Block 1 Poerua Survey District and block IV Whataroa Survey District. The public are warned against handling baits or carcases of poisoned animals. Dogs are susceptible to 1080 and may be poisoned by eating baits or carcasses of poisoned animals. The game (Packing and Export) Regulations 1967 Clause 49 (1) specifies “that recovery of game meat will not be permitted in or within eight kilometres of the area where poison is laid and such prohibition shall continue for a period of four weeks (4) following the completion of poisoning.” Access to these forest areas described above may be restricted without further notice.
