Woolley in sharp form

NZPA Staff correspondent Edinburgh

The defending Commonwealth skeet champion, John Woolley, proved he is a dominant force to be reckoned with in rehearsal shooting at Kippen yesterday. As pre-Games competition gathered pace, the shooters were engaged in what are known as “badge” shoots, dress-re-hearsals that give the chance to get the feel of the ranges they are firing from and weigh up the opposition. The skeet badge shoot produced a close result with seven competitors tied, a result which led some Games officials to predict a run on gold and silver if a similar result eventuated in the real competition. Woolley tied for first on 97, sharing the. top score with England’s Kenneth Harman, the British Grand Prix skeet champion in 1983 who finished third in that competition in 1984.
