League selection
Two Canterbury players have won selection in the New Zealand Maori rugby league team to compete in the South Pacific tournament in Rarotonga later this year. They are Andrew Vincent and Brendan Tuuta.
The team is: George Huriwai, Gary Mercer, Mark Woods, Lome Green (Bay of Plenty), Shane Horo, Ron O’Regan, Tracy McGregor, Owen Wright, Chappie Pine, Hugh McGahan, Kelly Shelford (Auckland), Pihama Green, Neville Ramsey, Lewis Hill (Waikato), Andrew Vincent, Brendan Tuuta (Canterbury), Adrian Shelford, Sam Stewart (Wellington), Anthony Murray (Northland), Lance Ropiha (Hawke’s Bay). ® The four matches played in “The Press”-sponsored secondary schools rugby league competition yesterday resulted.—
Mairehau High School 18, Shirley Boys’ High School 0; Hillmorton High School 42, Cashmere High School 0; Bumside High School 26, Christchurch Boys’ High School 22; Rlccarton High School 26, Hagley High School 17.
