Aust, series good training for Devoy
PA Auckland The World squash champion, Susan Devoy, is looking to the coming test series against Australia as a means of turning her energies back on to a training routine. Devoy said yesterday that since her return to Auckland she has found it difficult to fit in training, public relations work and house-hunting. However, on the. eve of her departure for Australia, where the New Zealand team will play in two Adelaide tournaments, as well as tests in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, ‘' Devoy said. the change of environment may be what is needed.
“I know I have to train, but often an hour or two goes by and I haven’t got into gear to do any work. But with the team, there will not be the same disruptions.”
Devoy, aged 22, the world No. 1, will meet former world champion, Vicki Cardwell.
She has beaten the Australian continuously since the 1984 test series, but “Vicki is so good at gamesmanship she is not an easy opponent to play.”

Completing the team are Donna Gurran (Remuera) and Jillian Oakley (Henderson). -Julie. Garvey; (North Shore) will be manager.--™ — — . • -
