Clean squash sweep as expected

The last week of the Skellerup Sport Star women’s open grade squash competition was only of academic interest, with Kool Mount Pleasant already assured of a clean sweep of trophies. Mount Pleasant, which finished with a 10-0 win over Christchurch I on Tuesday evening, is believed to be the first women’s team to go through the season unbeaten. In 11 of the 15 rounds the team gained maximum points, and it scored 96 out of a possible 100 in the last 10 rounds. Of the Mount Pleasant quartet, Ann Harliwich was unbeaten, Merle Holland had only one loss and both Carolyn Viggers and Sue Mullaly two each.

Attention' on the last night was focused on the fortunes of the bottom teams, Christchurch I and Lancaster Park. By taking four points against Sumner the Park side managed to nudge past Christchurch.
