Changes to bowls team
The Canterbury indoor bowls selectors have made several changes in the team to defend the A. S. Paterson Trophy against North Otago on July 19. Noel Tomlinson replaces Leon McLennon, one of Canterbury’s most experienced skips, who has withdrawn from the team. Tomlinson, Terry Rice, Kevin Anngow and Andrew Curtain make up one team. Alf Williamson and Denis Wheeler are the only survivors from the successful team after the close encounter
against South Canterbury. Dean Hunt and Lyn Shaw will replace Trevor Thompson and Gary Lawson. The Jackson Trophy team to play South Canterbury at Wainoni on August 2 is: B. Tomlinson (s), R. Ellis (Papanui W.M.C.), T. Chalmers, S. Ferguson; D. Philpott (s), B. Kamo, P. Woodfield, R. Oakes. The Williamson Trophy team to play North Otago at Oamaru on August 9 is: M. Pitcairn (s), I. Kamo, C. Pitcairn, P. Hinman; J. Dishington (s), G Ferguson, L. Hawes, D. Bottlca.
These teams will play against Combined Country at Lincoln on July 16.
