Police dig garden in search for man
Christchurch detectives yesterday dug up the back garden of a house in Aranui after a report that a man was missing. Police said that the detectives found only buried household rubbish. Detective Inspector Mai Griebel conformed yesterday that the police had a report that Thomas Edward Whale, aged 40, was missing.
Mr Grieble said that there was some concern for the safety of the missing man, but would not say more. However, a small squad of detectives is believed to have gone to a house in Pages Road yesterday afternoon, where a search was made. They were acting on information given about the man’s disappearance.
