New releases Palace Films

The Palace Films selection this month includes “Over the Summer,” an R rated movie starring Laura Hunt, Johnson West, Catherine Williams and David Romero. It is about a headstrong young girl, finding the holidays a real drag in a small backwoods town. But she was to find that even in the backwoods there are wellhidden secrets, frictions, tensions and unexploded emotions. For Tina it is not long before the summer starts to sizzle with Russian roulette, skinny dipping, arson and first love ... but that is all before the quiet town explodes in a heated finale of revenge. “Joey,” a young kid with a dream, plays a mean guitar like his father before he fell on hard times and took to the bottle. Joey is hell-bent on success, and when his band wins an audition to play back-up to some of the fifties big rock groups at a giant rock ’n’ roll revival show, the big time seems just around the corner.

“Blue Heaven.” You will love Tony and Carol Sabella. They are the perfect couple — bright, madly in love, up and coming young executives, but there is something dark and dirty lurking beneath the surface of their lives; something violent and destructive which is out of control! In a tough neighbourhood you learn fast, and in “Old Enough” Lonnie is learning very quickly. The story starts when Lonnie, a young man from the wealthy side of town, meets Karen, and becomes fascinated by her tough, exotic streetwise way of living, along with her immigrant family, shady friends and especially her good looking brother. But tensions quickly build as the two begin to spar for power. They finally erupt into a culture clash that will decide their future. The Palace Vibrant release for this month is “Pandora’s Mirror,” starring Veronica Hart, Jamie Gillis and Candy Barbour.
