Peninsula merger?
The Akaroa County Council will meet the Waiwera County Council on May 1 to discuss amalgamation on Banks Peninsula.
The meeting will be held at the Waiwera County Council offices, Akaroa councillors were
told yesterday. Discussions are expected to be in committee but a statement is expected afterwards. Akaroa asked the Local Government Commission to convene the meeting after the commission suggested the two councils get together on the subject.
