Geldof pleased
The Irish rock star, Bob Geldof, organiser of the Live Aid charity concerts, which raised millions of dollars to fight African famine, says he is delighted to be nominated for the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize. Geldof, nominated too late for last year’s prize, is one of 85 nominees. Others include the South African anti-apart-heid campaigners, Nelson and Winnie Mandela, the environmental group, Greenpeace, and the International Olympic Committee. “Live Aid was like a shooting star that was beautiful for a moment and will stay on in the memory as being beautiful,” Geldof said. “So to be .nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for such a thing is very pleasing. I am delighted.” — London.
