Man injured when gyrocopter crashes
PA Hamilton A young Auckland man was injured when his gyrocopter crashed at Taupo airport yesterday. The man, whose name is not available, was attending a fly-in organised by the New Zealand Rotocraft Association. His gyrocopter was being towed behind a car in what is described as standard training practice when it got out of control
and crashed on its side near the runway. The gyrocopter was 30ft' to 40ft above the ground when the accident happened. '■ ’ The man, who, was a student pilot, is believed to have suffered concussion and bruising. He was taken to Taupo Hospital. His condition was not available late yesterday. The gyrocopter was extensively damaged.
