Protest by farmers
PA Timaru South Canterbury farmers plan to shut the district’s freezing works on March 3 as part of a campaign protesting about the state of the farming industry.
Farmers will refuse to provide stock for the March 3 kill at the Pareora and Smithfield freezing works, as well as~ stock for the weekly Temuka sale.
A rural community rally, in Timaru is planned. The plan was announced at an executive meeting of South Canterbury Federated Farmers.
