Fellini tops Berlin bill
NZPA Berlin Federico Fellini’s “Ginger and Fred,” a movie about the dancers, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, opened the Berlin Film Festival this week. Some 650 films will be shown during the thirtysixth annual festival, but only 25 will compete for the Golden Bear Award. The prize is awarded to the film the judges deem to be the best in competition. This year’s jury is headed by the Italian actress, Gina Lollobrigida. This festival appears to be dominated by directors who are not widely known, including several from East European countries.
