Kitten rescue

. Sir,—Special thanks to a caring and quick-thinking bus driver. A week ago today, he stopped his bus, held up traffic and rescued a small, white deaf kitten that had been dumped in a. box outside my parents’ place in North Avon Road. Presumably, its owners hoped it would be ran over. Such actions are cowardly, cruel and unnecessary, considering the S.P.C.A. is but a phone call away. Happily, we are very pleased with the kitten. It is playful, good-natured and terrific with children. Already our small son adores it. Deafness is no hindrance. Hopefully, like my husband’s white deaf cat of childhood, it’ will live many years.—Yours, etc., HILARY PARKER. January 15, 1986.
