Amalgamation
Sir,—Of course we need only one administration for the whole of greater Christchurch, with delegation to minority local interests when necessary. Ratepayers should let their views be known. The question is how big? A minimum, from the Selwyn to the Waimakariri, including Banks Peninsula and west as far as West Melton? Or larger; to the mountains and south to the Rakaia? Increasingly town and country interests are merging as communications improve, and at no time has it been more important to rationalise.— Yours, etc.,
ROSS MacKENZIE. January 14, 1986.
