Talented racer signs deal
The talented motor-cycle road racer, lain Pero, has signed to ride with the Australian Honda team throughout the next racing season.
Pero, formerly of Christchurch but now based in Sydney, rode a Kawasaki to victory in the Australian Revs roadbike championship in 1985. He will team up with the veteran, Mai Campbell, in the Australian Castrol sixhour event, and one other roadbike event, but will ride alone in the other production races;
As well as road bikes, the Honda team deal includes the opportunity for Pero to become involved in Superbike racing. The Honda team ride should offer Pero the best chance to further his career as a professional motorcycle racer after four-years on the Australian circuits.
With the expected retirement of Campbell at the end of the 1986 season, Pero is hopeful that a good showing in Superbikes and production racing this season could see him stepping up to the Grand Prix class for 1587. -
