Air Force at sea
Four members of the Royal New ..Zealand Air Force will attempt the first circumnavigation of New Zealand in two outboardpowered, rigid-hulled inflatable, boats to raise money for the R.N.Z.A.F. Museum at Wigram air base. They are (from left): Corporal Mike Cleeton, of Putaruru, a senior chef; Sergeant Paul Kerridge, of
Massey, a flight steward; Sergeant Barry Hardaker, of Tauranga, an aircraft technician; and General Service Hand Norm Cook, of Herald Island.
The boats will be accompanied on their trip by a shore party with vehicles containing food, clothing, camping gear, and spare parts. The party is due to start on the first stage of the voyage, from Hobsonville to Takapuna Beach, on January 4, and return on January 31.
