Manger narrows lead
PA Wellington The five-times world champion, Ivan Mauger, retained third place over all in his international speedway series with a fourth placing in the seventh round at Wellington’s Te Marua raceway on Saturday. Mauger narrowed the over-all points lead of an American, John Cook, and
an Englishman, Simon Wigg, with a close fourth behind Cook, hiS compatriot, Bobby Schwartz, and Norway’s Einar Kyllingstad. Schwartz led Saturday’s field home with Cook second and Kyllingstad third. Wigg’s sixth placing kept him nine points ahead of Mauger in the over-all standings.
