Weedons top school
Tending the two hectares of grounds at Weedons School has earned its reward for some of its pupils. They have won an annual environmental competition for school pupils which is sponsored by the upper South Island Lions clubs and the New Zealand Nurserymen’s Association. The team, which gained the maximum points for the first time in the competition’s history, is (from left) Brett Hampton, aged 11, Jason Lapsley, aged 13, Anna-Mairi Horn, aged 12, Rachel Haywood, aged 13, and Mason Fitzgerald, aged 11. Twenty-six entries were judged for environmental value, special features, and appearance. Runners-up were Karoro Contributing School in Greymouth, Rapaura School in Blenheim, Kaikoura Suburban School, Flock Hill School, and Dar-
field High School.
