University Vacancies UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO WELLINGTON CLINICAL SCHOOL OF MEDICINE and WELLINGTON HOSPITAL BOARD WELLINGTON LECTURER OR SENIOR LECTURER IN PAEDIATRICS APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics In the Wellington Clinical School of Medicine.-Responsi-bilities will inclue heo-natal intensive care as well as general inpatient and outpatient paediatrics. ' The successful applicant should hold a higher’qualification as well as being recognised for registration in New Zealand as a Paediatric Specialist. He/she should be interested In teaching and will be encouraged to follow his/her own line of research. A new 55 bed paediatric department is about to be built, including medical and surgical cases arid the level HI unit for neo-natal intensive care is In the modern , and well equipped Wellington Women's Hospital. Salary Is expected to be within the following range: Senior Lecturer, $45,650$63,500 per annum. This is, however, subject to confirmation. UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO DUNEDIN SENIOR DEMONSTRATORS Faculty of Science APPLICATIONS are invited from final year honours students or honours graduates for a limited number of Senior Demonstratorships within the Faculty of Science. EMOLUMENT: A basic.bursary componerit (currently $3OlO per annum) will be paid, together with remission of University tuition fees. Laboratory supervision andr tutorial work undertaken will be paid for at the appropriate hourly rate ($7.14 or $8.93 per hour) (eg, for six hours demonstrating per week at $8.93 the total emolument will be $1393 plus $3OlO $4403). DUTIES: Approximately two half days laboratory work per week, and/or some tutorial work, with an upper limit of 312 hours during i the academic session. Successful applicants will normally be expected to enrol for the PhD degree. It Is possible for this degree to be completed within a period of three years. TENURE: Up to three years, renewable annually. DUTIES: Tutorials during the 26 weeks of the teaching year. EMOLUMENT: A basic bursary component (currently $3OlO per annum) will be paid, together with remission of University tuition fees. Tutorial work undertaken will be paid at the appropriate rate according to the hours actually worked. For example, one tutorial a week for 26 weeks at $8.93 per hour (multiplied by three to allow for preparation and marking) will provide an additional sum of $696, two tutorials an additional sum of sl3d3, and so forth.
