The Head of the Parks and Recreation Section Is the administrative and academic leader of the section and as such he/she will be responsible to the Principal for the co-ordination of the teaching and research activities of the teaching staff and co-jolnUy with the Head of the Department of Horticulture,. Landscape and Parks for the administration of the section. ■ Applicants should hold an appropriate post-graduate degree In disciplines relevant to the study of recreation and leisure theory and management. Such disciplines might Include recreational sociology, social psychology, recreational economics, geography or ecology. Applicants should have a proven record in teaching, curriculum development and research. An understanding of, and empathy with, the workings of National, Regional, Forest Park Systems, Local Authority Parks, Community Recreation programmes, and Tourism would be desirable. Commencing salary will be determined, depending on experience and qualifications, within the Senior Lecturer range of $37,000-$47,000 per annum. In the case of a candidate of exceptional merit an appointment may be made within the Reader range which is $53,000-$59,000 per annum. Travel and removal expenses reimbursed up to specified limits.
