The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in and administering a Diploma in English Language Teaching which is expected to commence in 1987. A special Interest in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous; second-lan-guage acquisition, erroranalysis, stylistics, soclo-lln-gulstlcs, or the languages of the South Pacific region. Commencing salary will be established within the following ranges: Lecturer: $NZ28,000—535,000; Senior Lecturer: $NZ37,000—547,000. The successful applicant will be expected to take an active part in teaching and research. Teaching duties will be principally in the areas of cellular ultrastructure, neuroscience and histology, to both science and medical students. Experience in electron microscopy and morphometry is essential. Preference will be given to candidates working in the fields of either cell biology or neuroscience. Research facilities in both fields are excellent and the appointee will be expected to undertake a vigorous research programme. Applicants should have a Ph.D and a record of proven research ability. The department is expanding its teaching to undergraduate science students. It also teaches within the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Physical Education and Home Science. The main research Interests of the department are in neuroscience, cell biology, reproductive biology and functional anatomy.
