Profit for Manawatu

PA Palmerston North The Manawatu Racing club depended heavily on sponsorship in bouncing back to record a solid profit during the 1984-85 season. Sponsors contributed $129,000 toward stakes. “It says something of the frailty of the racing industry that we needed so much of that sponsorship to survive,” said the club’s treasurer Mr Arthur Bartlett. Mr Bartlett said the club had a cash operating surplus of $52,466 compared with a deficit of $3503 the previous season.
