Kirkness takes title
Brian Kirkness comfortably beat Peter De Groot, 540-321, in the final of the Canterbury Open Billiards championships at Cuthberts Green yesterday. Kirkness recorded the highest break in the final,
with 126, and also scored two century breaks in section play. In the semi-finals Kirkness beat Sid Baker, 589-229, and De Groot beat Doug Hallum, 396-295. De Groot had a break of 119 in his semi-final match.
