Blow for Auckland XV

PA Auckland Auckland, faced with a tough rugby match next Tuesday against the giantkilling Wairarapa-Bush in Masterton, has suffered a severe blow at training. Marist’s Joe Harvey, the top scorer in Auckland club rugby this year, withdrew from the representative squad for the rest of the season because of family and business reasons.

With the All Black, Grant Fox, already in doubt with a thigh injury, Auckland thus could go into the match without a specialist goalkicker and first five-eighths. At Wednesday night’s training, Steven Pokere ran at first five, and could be used there, with Terry Wright goal-kicking. The other option would be to move Lindsay Harris from full-back.
