Basket semi-finalists
NZPA special correspondent Suva The New Zealand under--20 basketball coach, Mr Murray McMahon, hopes his side’s underdog status will be to its advantage when it meets Australia in the semifinals of the Oceania championships in Suva, Fiji today. New Zealand has qualified for a semi-final berth by defeating the Solomon
Islands, Western Samoa and Fiji. Australia, the runner-up in its group, is represented by the Australian Institute of Sport side from Canberra. The New Zealand side is free of injury. Australia received a rude shock on Sunday, when it lost, 75-74, to American Samoa, which meets Fiji in the other semi-final. The final is on Saturday.
