Polish violinist to succeed Pini

A Polish violinist has been appointed to the School of Music at the University of Canterbury to succeed Carl Pini. Jan Tawroszewicz, aged 39, will join the staff of the school. He is a soloist with the national Polish Philharmonic Orchestra and the Polish Chamber Orchestra. Formerly the concert master of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra for three years, Mr Tawroszewicz has

been active in Polish chamber music circles. His appointment to Christchurch is for a three year term. He visited the city on a world tour 10 years ago. The violinist has recorded many radio programmes, and taught violin and chamber music in Warsaw. He will fill the gap on the university’s staff left by the return of Carl Pini to Sydney.
